Learn how to maintain your bike

A series of six sessions will be on offer to members to learn more about maintaining their bike.

  1. The transmission system.
    1. Gears use and adjustment of front and rear derailleurs
    2. Checking chain, sprockets and chain rings for wear.
    3. Fitting a new chain and sprocket set.
Feb 20th 8:30 p.m
  1. Brakes.
    1. Adjustment
    2. Checking pads for wear and fitting new pads.
    3. Fitting new cables to brakes and gears
Feb 27th 8:30 p.m
  1. Wheels
    1. Checking, lubricating and adjusting bearings
    2. Checking rims
    3. Replacing broken spokes and wheel truing.
March 13th 8:30 p.m
  1. Headsets and bottom brackets.
    1. Different types commonly found.
    2. How to lubricate and adjust head sets
March 20th 8:30 p.m

Instruction and tips on maintenance will be given by various club members and others, with the objective of de mystifying simple maintenance tasks.
All sessions will be held as part of the normal club nights on Thursdays in the Rugby Club.
