01/07/2014 Club 10 Chelford J2/1

The close fight for top points in the scratch competition between Ben Norbury and Steve Hulme continues with Ben best on this occasion with 21:58 to Steve’s 22:02. Jamie Willetts was 3rd best club rider with 23:50 which included a 15 s late start. The actual top three were visitors this week. Joe Evans of the Haribo Beacon Cycling Team (winner of the 2014 Junior Isle of Man Tour), was quickest in 20:53, followed by Jack Green (V.C. St Raphael) 21:08 and Mark Lovatt, who started his cycling career with us, now with Planet X third, in 21:28.

Sue Blake earned top points in the Ladies competition with another PB of 27:54, ahead of Claire Thompson 28:20 and visitor Paige Milward (Bike Pure) 29:27.

Mark Allen, was best club junior in 25:12 followed by Tristan Roberts 26:32 and a fast improving Joe Langford 26:37 (PB).

A lovely summer evening on the J2/1 course at Chelford this week produced at least 7 PB’s amongst the 32 riders. Club treasurer Dean Roberts improved by over a minute with 29:19 to be best on handicap this week with a net 18:59.

Thanks to the 11 volunteers who helped run the event. They all earn a point in the Bob Job points competition which was updated last week and can be seen through the quick link on the right of the screen.
